Guy Hundy studied Mechanical Engineering at Leeds University, UK where he also gained the research degree of PhD in Mechanical Engineering. He started his career in the refrigeration industry with J & E Hall Ltd, Dartford, where he worked on the development of the single screw compressor for air conditioning and refrigeration applications. In 1985 he joined the engineering team at Prestcold. With the integration of Prestcold into Copeland Europe he worked on the development of the new Copeland scroll compressor for the European Market.

In the early 90’s Guy Hundy was Technical Manager for Copeland Great Britain. This was a period of intense activity concerning the phase out of CFC refrigerants and Copeland played a leading role with seminars, and technical consultancy for the industry. In 1997 he took up the post of Manager, Application Engineering based at Copeland’s Engineering, Sales and Marketing HQ in Belgium. In this role his responsibility was extended to all Copeland’s European and Middle East sales territories, and he set up an application engineering team to liaise with customers on Copeland compressor applications in refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump systems. He was appointed Director, Application Engineering in 1998. He has authored and co-authored papers and articles on compressors, applications and refrigerant changeover topics, and was awarded the Lightfoot Medal for best paper presented during the Institute of Refrigeration 2001/2 Session.

Guy Hundy is now based in the UK and works as a Technical Consultant for Copeland. He is currently President of the Institute of Refrigeration.
